We are pained to learn that Dr. L. Larche, an old and estimable citizen, died at his residence near Downsville, last week. Dr. Larche was one of the pioneer settlers of this section of the State, and his upright course of life united with his other admirable qualities as a citizen, had endeared him to the people of his acquaintance. He raised a large family of children who proved an honor to him in his declining years. His demise has caused a feeling of depression throughout the entire community. Requiescat in peace. - Record."Lucien Frost had sharecroppers farming his land. He owned the commissary where the sharecroppers bought their food. The sharecroppers seldom were able to get ahead as a result.
Family story:
Lucien had told the family and others that he would help build a jail but never a church. One night while walking from the farm commissary to his Great House, a large ball of fire hit right in front of him and rolled to the spot where the FrostTown Church of God stands today. The very next day, Lucien donated two acres of land and had a parson's house built for the local preacher.Lucien gave each of his sons 100 acres of land upon his death.
